Change of attitude

Hello Readers! This new year has brought about a change of attitude in the way we see our daily lives. At the beginning of this pandemic it felt harsh to have to plan every move: those short, almost daily trips to get this thing or that, came to a halt and we learned to plan ahead or make do with what we had on hand. At first this seemed like a burden, but I will dare to say that I found the pace and extra time, not spent rushing, to be a blessing. It only makes sense I think - my art, my fashion, is slow and sustainable. Why shouldn’t my lifestyle be?

Fashion has come very far and blossomed under the umbrella of sustainable and ethical textiles and practices. Have you taken a look at vegan leather? Sumptuous! Fabrics recycled from plastics? Soft as fleece! There is a call to buy fewer pieces, from environmentally and socially aware artisans, that you will love and treasure, rather than the throw away, big producer items that need to be replaced over and over. You can also mask up and head to your local thrift and second hand shops and see what wonders you will find. Bring a few of your “throw always” to leave for someone else to find. After all, one person’s trash is another’s treasure.

Have fun and enjoy!
